They came back

After my last failed attempt at flight
I draped myself across a puddle of pity
And sponged a whole nightful of sups
In one thirsty gulp
But failed to absorb
Even the surface
 Of the surface.

 I built new wings
Of headache and entitlement
And taking the hill up
And at a slow trot
Braced myself
 For the faceplant to come.
